Tryouts and Evaluations
What to expect at tryouts
Phantom Hoops Club tryouts are designed to evaluate the total athlete. Rather than running typical open-gym scrimmages, our evaluations are structured like Division I college practices to give our coaching staff a complete view of each player's potential, basketball IQ, and competitive spirit. Held directly at Mid Missouri Sports Park—the official home gym of Phantom Hoops Club—tryouts assess fundamental skill mechanics, defensive urgency, decision-making under pressure, and coachability under the leadership of Program Director Michael Scott and our experienced staff. Whether an athlete is entering our youth development divisions (3rd–8th grade still to be scheduled) or competing for a spot on our high school showcase teams on the RecruitLook Hoops Circuit (9th–12th grade), evaluations provide a fair, transparent, and high-intensity environment for every player to showcase their game.
Every participant is evaluated on technical skill execution, lateral agility, communication, and attitude. We look beyond raw talent to identify players who embrace hard work, support their teammates, and demonstrate the discipline required to represent Phantom Hoops Club. Hosted in our state-of-the-art home facility at Mid Missouri Sports Park, parents and athletes can expect an organized 90-minute evaluation session consisting of dynamic warmups, position-specific skill stations, small-sided game concepts (2v2, 3v3), and full-court situational play. Pre-registration online is strongly encouraged to ensure a smooth check-in process and guarantee proper sizing for tryout numbers and player gear.
